IPCC has concluded its selection of authors for its Seventh Assessment Report. Two of them work at NILU.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has appointed 664 experts from 111 countries to take part in writing the Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). These assessment reports provide the authoritative scientific basis on how the climate is changing, how human activities influence those changes, and what can be done to limit warming and reduce risks.
Two of IPCC’s appointed experts work at NILU’s Department of Atmosphere and Climate:
Senior scientist Helene Muri is a lead author of Chapter 9, “Earth system responses under pathways towards temperature stabilization, including overshoot pathways”, in the Working Group 1 report on the Physical Science Basis.
“As a Contributing Author to AR6 (WGI and WGIII), I learned a great deal. In AR7, I look forward to once again assessing new evidence rigorously and communicating it clearly,” she says.
Senior scientist Rona Thompson is a lead author of Chapter 2, “Past and current anthropogenic emissions and their drivers”, in the Working Group 3 report on Mitigation of Climate Change.
“This is an honorable and important task, which we greatly appreciate taking part in,” says Thompson.
