NILU´s Health Effects Laboratory performs human in vitro toxicity testing of particles and chemicals in several test models. We can investigate potential toxicity of most test compounds, and our main focus is on nanomaterials, environmental pollutants and particles (PM).
We are offering scientific services on DNA damage, gene mutations, oxidative stress and carcinogenicity. Additional to standard 2D models, we can perform testing in advanced 3D co-culture models for liver (hepatocyte spheroids) and lung (air liquid interphase respiratory model).
Our Health Effects Laboratory is certified for good laboratory practice (GLP), and all toxicity testing in our laboratory can be performed in compliance with the principles for GLP, in a regulatory aspect. We have good expertise in risk assessment and the safe-by design principle within the nanotoxicology field.
