NILU Measures and Analyzes Dust Fallout According to NS 4852:2010

The County Governor requires sandpits, quarries, construction sites, and project areas where dust problems may arise to provide documentation of dust fallout in the area around the activity. NILU performs dust fallout measurements. We measure and analyze dust fallout according to Norwegian Standard NS 4852:2010.

This is a simple and cost-effective method to determine the total amount of dust. A dust collector is placed outside for 30 days and then sent in for analysis.

We determine the amount of water-insoluble and water-soluble dust and can also determine the mineral content, heavy metals, and several other components:

  • Cations and anions (salts)
  • PCB
  • Optical analysis of dust (including quartz and various minerals)
  • Asbestos

Each case is unique regarding the number of measurement points, the duration of the measurement period, and which components we should look for. This is agreed upon with each customer. We can also offer accredited analysis of self-collected samples if the customer wishes to receive and set up the collectors themselves.
