Air quality assessment for Levanger municipality

NILU has prepared an assessment (part I) of local air quality in Levanger.

The assessment was carried out on behalf of Levanger municipality following a recommendation from the Norwegian Environment Agency.

The action plan outlines the air quality situation and potential measures to reduce air pollution levels to comply with the regulation (“forurensningsforskriften”). The assessment includes emission and dispersion calculations for all relevant sources of PM₁₀ and PM_2.5 in 2017 and 2019. Additionally, measurements of these components were conducted throughout 2021 at a monitoring station (Kirkegata) in Levanger’s town center.

Based on the results of the assessment, a four-point action plan has been proposed to help reduce pollution levels in Levanger.
