Possible future petroleum activity west of the delimitation line in the Barents Sea South. Consequences of emissions to air. NILU OR

Solberg, S.; Svendby, T.; Gjerstad, K.I.; Liu, L.; Wathne, B.M.; Skjelkvåle, B.L.; Høgåsen, T.; Aarrestad, P.A.; Gjershaug, J.O.

Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU), Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) have concidered the effects on the environment of emissions of NOx, SO2 and particulate matter into the air from any future petroleum activity in Barents-sea. It is estimated deposition of nitrogen, sulfur and particulates - also formation of ozone is calculated. It is also considered what effect it has on nature. Calculations indicate that emissions most likely will not lead to negative effects on vegetation and fauna of the terrestrial impact area.

Monitoring of greenhouse gases and aerosols at Svalbard and Birkenes: Annual report 2010. NILU OR

Myhre, C.L.; Hermansen, O.; Fjæraa, A.M.; Lunder, C.; Fiebig, M.; Schmidbauer, N.; Krognes, T.; Stebel, K.

The report summaries the activities and results of the greenhouse gas monitoring at the Zeppelin and observatory situated on Svalbard in Arctic Norway during the period 2001-2010 and the greenhouse gas monitoring and aerosol observations from Birkenes for 2010.
The monitoring programme is performed by the NILU ¿ Norwegian Institute for Air Research and funded by the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) (now Climate and Pollution Agency) and NILU ¿ Norwegian Institute for Air Research.

Dispersion calculations Toten Metall AS. NILU OR

Haugsbakk, I.; Tønnesen, D.

Stack height calculatoons have been carried out for emissions from a facility for metal refinery to avoid smoke plume at nearby road. Minimum stack height is calculated to 28 meters above ground level with input presented in this report.

SK-1401 Mongstad. Dispersion calculations. NILU OR

Tønnesen, D.; Berglen, T.F.

Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU) has performed dispersion calculations of emissions to air from stack SK-1401 at Mongstad refinery. Dispersion of CO2 and SO2 is calculated and analyzed. NILU has also evaluated the calculated concentrations from a HSE point of view, including life time/degradation of the components. The calculated concentrations have been added to existing background concentrations at Mongstad and the calculated total concentrations have been compared to air quality guidelines and threshold values. The defined Worst Case emission scenario exeeds the air quality limit for hourly concentrations of SO2. An alternative emission arrangement have been calculated, and this emission scenario does not exeed the air qualyi limit.
