Certification and Accreditation

NILU is certified and accredited in several areas. Among other things, our project implementation is certified according to ISO 9001 (the quality standard), the laboratories are accredited according to ISO 17025, and NILU’s health effects laboratory is GLP-certified.

NILU has been awarded the Management System Certificate by Kiwa, confirming its compliance with the requirements of NS-EN ISO 9001:2015 for the provision of research-based, environmentally related services and products.

NILU has also been certified by Kiwa for compliance with NS-EN ISO 14001:2015, covering the direct and indirect environmental impacts of its research and research-based services in Norway.

GLP-sertification

The NILU Health Effects Laboratory is inspected according to OECD’s principles for Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and registered in the Norwegian Accreditation’s GLP register with registration number GLP 012, thereby ensuring high quality results.

Our laboratory is the only GLP certified laboratory for human in vitro toxicity testing in Norway.

NS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017

NILU meets the requirements in accordance with NS-EN ISO / IEC 17025 for the determination of several components in various matrices.

Reference laboratories:

National reference laboratory for air quality

In 2001 the Norwegian environment agency appointed NILU as the national reference laboratory for air quality in Norway.

Its main responsibilities include ensuring that air quality measurements in Norway comply with EU directives, maintaining high-quality and comparable data. These data contribute to reports submitted by Norwegian authorities to the European Environment Agency (EEA).

National reference laboratory for the measuring of ozone

On May 18, 2006, NILU was designated by the Norwegian Metrology Service (Justervesenet) as the national reference laboratory for ozone measurement.

This means that NILU shall establish and maintain national measurement standards for ozone and regularly document that norms are traceable to the highest international level. As a part of its duties as the national reference laboratory NILU will also offer traceable calibration of measuring instruments of ozone measuring instruments.
